Anger

Anger means to be raged, to be furious, to take the form of wrath, resentment, outrage, rebuke, annoyance, etc.

Anger is a condition that is caused by the agitation of human emotions. Just as human nature cannot hide happiness, so anger always comes to the fore.

Anger is one of the human emotions we experience in our daily lives. It is a natural process that occurs in the form of a reaction to an unpleasant event. This results in frustration and annoyance, intense excitement, reddening of the face, increased heart rate, increased pulse rate, and shortness of breath. Even a serious and beautiful person takes on a terrible and terrifying shape. Anger is associated with arrogance and self-righteousness and oppression (excessive oppression and excessive injustice) and therefore it leads to destruction and ruin.

Anger is not only detrimental to a person individually, but also causes pain and suffering to those around us. Because of this many of your enemies are born. This not only affects your domestic affairs but also increases your social dislike.

In a state of anger, a person fights. This results in physical, verbal and emotional damage that affects our physical and mental health as well as the quality of human relationships.

Some people get angry and do not express it. Some people become hostile by expressing their anger openly. Wise people, on the other hand, use the right time and the right way to express their anger so that emotions such as frustration, irritability and resentment do not arise.

Anger causes a lot of damage to one's self. Along with changes in mental state, anger also affects a person's physical health. This causes abnormal changes in heart rate and blood pressure. If the feeling of anger is too intense or lasting, these changes can also cause irreparable damage to our health.

While Allah has described many attributes of His believing and sincere servants, He has also described them as:

الَّذِيۡنَ يُنۡفِقُوۡنَ فِى السَّرَّآءِ وَالضَّرَّآءِ وَالۡكٰظِمِيۡنَ الۡغَيۡظَ وَالۡعَافِيۡنَ عَنِ النَّاسِؕ وَاللّٰهُ يُحِبُّ الۡمُحۡسِنِيۡنَ

(آل عمران – آیت 134)

Those who spend in happiness and distress, and those who restrain anger and those who forgive people, and Allah loves those who do good.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "The wrestler is not the one who beats his opponent. The real wrestler is the one who overcomes himself when he gets angry."

Here are some ways which can be helpful to control your anger:

1.   If you notice any changes in your body such as shortness of breath,
headache, abnormal heartbeat, cramping in the joints, pay attention to all
these symptoms immediately. It is clear from those symptoms that you are
      experiencing an unusual emotional state.

2.       Take a deep breath if you are experiencing these physical changes. Take a break while inhaling, hold your breath for a while and then take a break while exhaling.

3.       Take a half hour break to calm yourself down. Leave the room or leave the conversation unfinished. Make every effort to make you feel calm.

4.       Listen to the recitation. Or listen to something you like. Try to divert your attention.

5.       Do anything that can restore your energy. For example, exercise, dance, play sports or walk.

6.       Write down your thoughts and feelings.

7.       Get help and support from someone.

8.       Examine your personality and consider the factors that make you angry.

9.       When you feel better, talk to the right person.

10.    If you fail to deal with anger, engage yourself in constructive activity.

11.    Sometimes anger is a sign of health, but anger all the time can be your enemy.

12.    A moment of endurance in the face of anger can save you a thousand times of embarrassment and shame.
